Default overnight stream-fishing/fly-fishing hikes

Hello all,
i have been looking around trying to find somewhere to do an overnight pack trip and some fishing and haven't had much luck . so i was wondering if anybody knows where a couple are that have a trail or if they know any books or magazines about the subject.
thanks,

What part of the province do you want to go? There are a few in the Castle area of SW AB (Barnaby Ridge, Rainy Ridge, Grizzly, Ruby, North and South Scarpe).

Kananaskis also has a number of lakes, as does Banff. Jasper too, but I have yet to fish any of the back country lakes in the National Parks.

Elbow lake would be my suggestion if you are in K country. Its full of smallish brookies, but will give you a fun day! Its 1km uphill to the lake, and there are campsite pads. Watch out for bears!

I wasn't paying attention to your title on this thread... is it only streams that you are interested in fishing?

buy a map, start exploring. I have yet to find a stream of any sort of decent size that didn't contain some trout.

Get a back roads map of the area you want and they often have trails and camp grounds and a lot of info you're looking for.

For streams.... Scour your maps/google earth for the last road access and start hiking upstream (so long as it doesn't parallel the road lol). A full hour will get you past where most people fish to in a day (except suckers for punishment like myself).
Don't expect more than fishermans trails or game trails.
