Default Anyone been to Belize?

Looking into studying abroad in Belize, the fishing sounds pretty awesome but there's not much on DIY fishing. As a student I'm pretty broke.... Can anyone tell me anything about beach fishing in Belize? or inland fishing? I don't need bonefish or Tarpon, I'm happy catching forage fish and whatnot

thanks

It's awesome. Grab a Kayak and cruise out to the reef with a 6 wt and a few Clousers ! I'm headed there next week.

An 8 wt and various gotchas (white, pink, brown, tan). Where in Belize?

For grouper and grunts find a place you can wade out to the break and fish some structure or walk out on a rocky point very carefully. Use a weighed crab pattern like this:

Default footwear?

When one wades into the flats of Belize what would one wear for footwear? Regular running shoes? Any dangers to look out for? BEL

I go barefoot 90% of the time, i'll throw on an old pair of chuck taylors if my feet are sore.

What did you wear last trip?

I would not go barefoot for sure. Dive shops have lots of choices. Neoprene ankle high with soft rubber sole works great.

Belize is a pretty awesome place to go,
The people are friendly and the fishing around the islands should be pretty good... but I'd want to be wearing a shoe, because the last time I was there the locals where saying that the stingrays like to come towards the shore and stepping on them wouldn't end well
