Mississauga to vote on Bonnie Crombie's motion to support changing the lyrics to ‘O Canada’ -
Now they want to change the anthem to “Our home and native land” to “Our home ON native land”.
This is getting ridiculous. And you know damn well it will be changed and passed.

Nothing warms the heart more than a "faux woke" white (yay, I think that I coined a new phrase) politician, riding on the coat tails of another musician that decided to combat fading into obscurity by changing the words to our national anthem during the NBA all star weekend in February.
They can sing whatever they want in the GTA, I'm sure that Bonnie can really relate to the struggles of Indigenous Peoples. Famous people and politicians are such a bunch of phony flakes. Although every corporation also gets on board with feigned disingenuous causes of the day, which are quickly forgotten when the next cause du jour comes along.

Every hockey game i watched this year starts with an acknowledgement that we are on the traditional land of the,......
Nothing wrong with respect duly given to the tradional people. Always talk about throwing money at a problem the government caused many generations ago. Respect costs nothing and is part of reconciliation

Maybe they should adopt a new anthem that covers all cultures. Each line has a different language. It's sad we don't really have an identity as a nation. Not sure what a Canadian is.

Another option to avoid controversy is just to do away with a national anthem altogether. Who really gives a rats? Its not like Canada piles up a ton of Olympic medals anyways, it'd speed up pretty much every sporting event considerably, save a lot of rising/sitting and spilled beers, and spare my ears from all the lame artist renditions.
If we must have one I'd compromise for changing it up so that each and every word in it is from a different country, dialect, and tribal language so nobody feels left out. Then I'd pay to see a no longer and likely never was artist sing it.
Ohhh... Danish, Ukrainian, Bantu, Korean, Parsis, Sikh, Cree, Mongolian...

An anthem has next to zero to do with patriotism, respect for blood spilled, or deity. Much the same as the King or Queen of England. I respect respect deserving people, have never looked for a handout in my life, am polar opposite of woke, and think you're miles off track on this one.
