Default Meteorite??

Did anybody see the sky light right up followed by a loud boom a couple minutes later? Happened about 10 minutes ago and Facebook is talking about it right now in the Sherwood Park area. Totally crazy either way, rattled the house and scared the heck out of a few people by the sounds of it!!

Nope, I’ve never seen anything like it. Was like somebody flipped a light switch outside!

If it was a meterorite and landed in your yard .. you'ld be a wealthy
man, it on the other hand it was the Russins, well.

Metor showers are big this time of year, most likely that's what it was.

Anybody get any pictures ?

I don't think you would want the one from tonight landing in your yard. It looked to be pretty big

When it boomed after the flash I thought someone was trying to break into the house!! Never heard a sound like that before. Curious where it went?

I don't care if it was bigger than a school bus and crashed into my house if
I could sell it to the Smith Sonian for a cool Million.

But then if it turned out to be left over SputNik parts or other space Junk
and not an actual Meterite, that would let the air out of my balloon.

My wife is watching Twitter and there’s a report of a meteorite landing in the ocean near Australia, not sure if it’s the same one?

Nothing on the BBC or Fox or NBC etc. about it.

Totally up to you all to post the news.

News casters don't work on the weekends, you have to
tell them what went on Sat. and Sun. so they have something "new"
to say come Monday morning.

:-)

Howard, that's great if you got news people who keep you all informed.
Down here we don't.

Thanks for posting, I'm sure others where you are would want to know
what's going on around them.

That's a good thing. :-)

Kurt, what made you think that video was from Jan. ?

My neighbour across the field that had friends over for a fire must have got a good show. I’ll see what he has to say when I talk to him...

Vasa32, if it's the same one that landed in Austrailia, I doulbt you have heard
it hit the ground. At least tonight anyway maybe tomorrow morning.

Just sayin', maybe there were 2 or more than 1 ?

Seriously, you most likey heard a sonic boom as it entered the atmosphere.
I can't amagin what it must have been like to experience it close to ground
zero where it hit, if it did infact make it to the ground before burning up.

I live 1.5 hours east of Edmonton and heard something last might. While watching a movie I heard a boom that sounded like something blew up. I turned the TV down waiting for a secondary thinking maybe a train derailment.but nothing happened. No sirens or EMS so just thought that was weird so went back to the movie. May explain what I heard??

Yup I heard the rumble in Beaumont. We have a lot of air traffic, but this sounded different for sure.

Probably just the Oilers in training camp, and the dumpster fire got out of control.

A meteorite blew up just west of Grimshaw in the late ‘60s, over the small town of Berwyn. It also arrived with a loud window-rattling bang and lit up the night sky.

Air Cadets, Boy Scouts and adult volunteers were mustered and a search was conducted on the ice of nearby Lac Cardinal (known locally as Bear Lake). A quite a few pieces were found, many of which were simply pocketed and carried off. No, I didn’t get one - but I saw a couple. They just looked like chocolate brown rock, charred to a depth of a half inch or so.
