I haven't used this welder but reviews look great on it. For that price, and if you aren't making a living off your welder, I don't think you could go wrong.

Just make sure it can handle the thickness of metal you want to weld.

I don’t have any experience with that particular machine at all, but what type of home projects would you want to be welding? 80 amps is not a lot of heat.
If you are just curious wanting to weld sheet metal and garden art projects and that kind of thing it’s probably just fine for the money. If you want to fabricate or repair anything structural it’s not going to be for you.

I’m not sure if that one is expandable to run on shield gas. That is one thing I’d look for. Especially if you are wanting to do any type of body work.
Small welders like that do have a place but not in welding heavy material. I have a small mig but 95% of the welding i do is ‘stick’.

This one is not used with any gas! but it would be used to repair broken stuff, but not heavy stuff, it says it will weld up to 3/16" more for small repairs.

Sounds like you already made up your mind.
If you give us more of an idea on what you want to weld it might help.

I bought one last year for the same purpose and it does the job, not pretty, but I'm not very experienced either. I am happy with it and if it's the same one, you can use gas if you choose to.

go down from $289 to $179 on this exact welder. I really like it though.

Friend of mine had one of these for his home shop. Does really good pigeon dropping welds. He's so frustrated with the thing that he wants to pitch it into the alley and drive over it.
On anything 1/8" or over, you get about 1 minute of weld time every 10 minutes.

Picked one up from prince auto a few years ago on sale for $80
Identical to this one

Haven't had any issues with it. I am not a welder but do repair my own vehicles and fix things and it has come in handy.

Might as well just use some jumper cables and a car battery.

I’ve got one, it definitely works. I’ve built lots of stuff with it,
For the price it’s hard to beat, buy good dual shield wire (Lincoln) for it though
Princess Auto wire is garbage

I think you will be much happier, much more capable machine and still a 110v model.

Way better call.
The other issue with the little mastercraft is that the gun isn't replaceable easily if anything gets wrecked. It's essentially a disposable machine.
The Lincoln will do you way better even though it's a good bit more money.
If you need to go super cheap you're usually better off with a small stick welder.
