Default SportsTV

I never really thought much about this but after a week travelling in the US it made me wonder why doesn’t our sports tv providers, TSN or Sportsnet produce local sports broadcasts or anything? We were able to watch the Florida state high school bball state tournament, seen some cornhole matches, college track and field.

They have localized production teams in major cities, why do they not televise university sports, college sports, AJHL games, more W games, provincial championships? I mean I honestly do know it’s because of revenue but why have 5 channels when 4 are the same and blacked out or the one that really bothers me but televising a radio show. Like wtf is that about. Cheap cheap I guess. I don’t know.

You can. It's just not as well known, and it's not every sports.

But that's just usports.

It is all about revenue. No revenue no broadcast.

^ Exactly. Here, it would have to be 100% subsidized with virtually no one watching.

ok, i will ask....they broadcast cornhole and enough people pay to watch to cover production costs? I'll take a guess and say that the sponsors may be in the brewing business. Best get my snakes and ladders game up to par to go pro.

They are catering to the demographic that kept 'Here comes Honey Boo Boo' on the air for 2 seasons. There isn't much those simpletons won't watch.

OT- It's all about advertising revenue, which is dictated by the number of viewers. It's simple math, they have the numbers, we do not.
