Default Transduser problems

I have a humming bird ice 35. My transducer failed on mecafter a year bought a new one last year and its crapped out now also. Can they be fixed or does a guy have to always buy a new one. At $150 a pop buying another will surpass the cost of theunit itself? Suggestions

Default Transducer failure

Check with whomever you bought it from or see if there was any warranty that came with it when you purchased it.

1. Any obvious leaks or breaks in the transducing housing...water damage?

2. Check all the cables, the connections, any corrosion on any of the pins?

3. Is battery charged/malfunctioning?

4. Any damage to the unit itself?

I would check the battery also, it’s amazing how much weird things can start happening when your battery starts to go. Find another power source just to rule that out first before you do anything else.

huh? Like the other guys are saying and I also find it too convenient to blame it on the transducer itself. Something is causing it to malfunction.

I've had an ice 45 for 6 years...……………..sees lots of use and still using original transducer.

Had mine for over 10 years and no problems with the trans. Unit its self is starting to get worn out.

On my Vexilar the pins on the plug in got corroded and caused a bad signal from the transducer. Cleaned them up with Emery cloth, and has been fine since.

When you buy a new one ,don't leave it in the back of the truck when driving out to the lake. Those 100 km wind chills can crack the crystals !
