Default Junior's Creations

i had a little time finally to sit behind my sons vice and take a few pictures of some of his latest patterns. some are variations of bugs he has tied in the past and been producers and some are new that we can't wait to throw on our favorite mountain streams. being his father i may be a bit partial but i think he might be grasping the hobby quite well. enjoy the pics, i know we love chucking them.

That kid of yours sure has some talent Dace.

Good to see a youngster picking up the art of tying so fast.

Great stuff, Dace; Jr. knows what he's doing!
Some nice ties, but the 'fishiest' one is probably the simplest...

thank you everybody for their nice comments from JR. he has read every one and says he has more bugs he'd like me to post pics of. also wants to know who's running the next fly swap and is always eager to tie a dozen or so up!

yes sir. what really impresses me is he doesn't need a sample fly sitting by his vise to tie the bug. looks at the fly, spins it around in his hand a couple times and views from all angles. goes down to his vise and sure enough ties one up just as good as the tailor made. usually with some extra flash of some kind.

could be scary. no lessons and he's only been tying for a year this past christmas. needed a new vise this christmas as he wore the first one out.

thanks for all your kind words from me too guys. appreciated. there's a lot worse things the young man could be doing with his time.

Great ties! How old is he? Like bobloblaw said, the rubber legged stone nymph is probably the deadliest...

Smile Excellent work!

Now the key is to get them wet as often as possible! You can probably get free materials from some of the AO members if he asks, how about a deer hide? Elk? Duck feathers? Pheasant capes, and tails? go easy on buying stuff, the talent and patience he has can turn flies out of lots of free materials.
