Do the oilers have enough depth and solid goaltending to make your speech work?
Ask a flames fan or an oiler fan. Any.
If the oilers had all the peices, then yes, your speech would make sense. Take out some key peices and it won’t work

Not overall….. they are asking the numbering one reason…..
Leon should have said there isn't a number 1 reason, there are many reasons that we are losing... because this is the truth.
These are questions that I believe they should be asking the coach though, not the players. these reporters are just looking for something to write about.

That’s what they have been saying…..
Hence the questions are now super specific like “what’s the number 1 reason…..”
Your right. Those questions are usually directed at tippet and Holland. As should be.

Sub standard play will be dealt with behind closed doors not open to the public and guess what given Edmonton’s fan base they will forget after a few wins

Most Oiler fans are upset and would love to point blank ask they what the heck guys and start playing like you care. Most would not be polite at all about it and make this reporter look like a saint.

So nah. I don’t buy the reporter was a meanie weenie and should get a lecture on talking nicer to the nice sad multi millionaire hockey players who are playing crappy.

When you look at our play earlier on before the omicron shut ins, we were clicking, playing with confidence and hungry for the puck. Guys were playing with fire. Do we have depth? We showed we had the depth capable to win. What makes depth work is all lines playing win. Playing higher than expectations. Everyone has that ability and now we need to ratchet it up a notch and then two or three more come playoffs.

The Oilers have enough skill and now they need the mental game to strengthen and work to win like their life is depending on it.

I disagree.
Oilers are nowhere near a complete team. Capable of deep playoff hockey.

I don’t think they are playing near capable enough to win the cup. They have some weaknesses for sure and can the players in those roles step it up? Potentially but time will tell.

Are there players available to make them better? Who would you suggest?

Well for starters. This team gets no cups until we have a capable goalie. Let’s take care of that first and then we can return to this thread for step 2.

Your missing my point if he had a more respectful tactic in questioning then he might have got a few answers but dropped the ball by his delivery so here we are….and fans being upset and cranky boo bloody whooo….typical fan base….I’m upset and you better do something about it or or or.

From my perspective keep loosing so my Canucks can keep lookin goooood winning!

Our only hope at this point would be smith to get hot, which he is capable of doing, stay uninjured. Which may be possible.
And to sustain both until the end of the playoffs. Provided they make it.
Tall order to say the least.
I have no faith in Kosk anymore and skinner is unproven and the most intense game he’s played so far is a few early season regular games.

A wolf in sheep's clothing?

Don't pretend to give a rat's bum about how the Oilers are doing other then to find pleasure in their struggles.

We all visit the Flames thread and know exactly what your intentions are

Earlier on I mentioned defence and goal tending were an early on problem for the Oilers. Also how many gears do they have leading up to and peaking at during the playoffs.

The last game… last period was a collapse of D and G.

But yes I agree… goal tending right now isn’t cup quality.

Right now the Oilers have as many goals for as against.

Draisaitl and McDavid May be near the top of the scoring list however while everyone else has impressive +/-, they are very weak.

They need to perform to get into the playoffs.

In my eyes the reason the Oiler's are falling is that McDavid and Draisitl were scoring at a record breaking pace earlier in the season and Koskinen was playing way over this head. Now McDavid and Draisitl are playing average and Koskinen just plain sucks. Also non of the other players are contributing anything.

Sounds like Hyman tested positive and may be out, along with Nuge:

Projected lineup, assuming Hyman is actually out:

Perlini – McDavid – Yamamoto
Foegele – Draisaitl – Puljujarvi
Benson – McLeod – Kassian
Shore – Ryan – Sceviour

Relax! I get no pleasure out of Oilers sucking. Every team goes thru it. It’s almost like the team is waiting for a shoe to drop like in Vancouver with Green being shown the door. You guys have assets to make changes as suggested. Curious to see what Holland does. All i want to see is a flames/oilers playoff series regardless who wins. Hell like to see that every year. Flames have sucked as hard as oilers past month.

I certainly didn't mean to chase him away, and I too like to see any other Canadian do well... some more than others though.

But when he said "When you look at our play earlier on before....." referring to the Oilers, well something smelled fishy.

Could you imagine Bessie going over to the Flames thread and saying "Come on boy, our Flames will get the win tonight." Heads would explode!

Don’t worry.

I’m hardly the scare away type. Been out and a boot.

Since you seem to need others to justify their Oiler fandom… here goes.

You seem younger than me. As I grew up in Oilerton… been to tons of games when nosebleeds were $8/ticket… lived in the Oiler hay days of Gretz, Mess, Kurri, Anderson, Coffey, Lowe, Fuhr, Moag, Semenko… those days were awesome. I always root for the Oilers to win in every game except against Flames… as this is my home town now.

I desire both teams to be successful in a league Bettman stacks in favour of American teams.

I like many others would love an Alberta playoff series… most hope is it’s the final in the conference.

As I follow the Oilers… I was pointing out they came out stumbling then got their legs. They are stumbling again and while yes… they have some serious holes showing, I am an optimist that they will get it going again.

So while some like poking the other city… I don’t revel in either city struggling.

So cheers.. I hope you give me permission to hope the Oilers get it going.

Sun

PS. As a fan I can also be critical. FYI.

Not that it matters but when did the oil come out stumbling? Beginning of the season or the last game? Last game I would agree.

Bobrovsky is on his game, that last save...oi. They are gonna have to crash the net, get some traffic going. Shooting from 50' out when he sees it coming isn't gonna do it.
