Default Waterhen Lake Sk

Im heading up to Waterhen on Monday for a couple days, but have never fished it. Is there any spots to avoid on the lake such as reefs and rock piles?

I was up there years ago and did not hear of anything of rocks or reefs and the walleyes were biting great at the mouth of the river .

There's a couple areas there that could be a unpleasant surprise .....

1) The narrows between Waterhen and Little Waterhen roughly at 54.462508, -108.402217 has some pretty big rocks and some dead heads - idle slowly through there and maybe have a spotter. There should be a decent amount of water through there this year but its only a few feet deep through there.

2) The very edge of the point at Buffalo Bill's point - it goes out from shore about 200 yards or so - 54.462508, -108.402217 - there should be enough water there this year that it might be 3 ft there this year but still be careful around that point.

Other than that - no big surprises that you wouldn't expect.

Water hen is a great lake. Enjoy your stay. We will be down the road at Pierce starting on Friday and coming back Tuesday. Great park with some great fishing once you figure the lakes out.

These lakes in this park are perfect examples of 5% of the fishermen catching 95% of the fish.

That reef between waterhen and little waterhen is dangerous, but I caught a 47" pike just off that reef (on the east side), so it might be a worth while journey. I really liked fishing waterhen, enjoy the trip.

Have a safe trip. If you need any tips on catching a pike, you know who to call.

We were there last year for may long and the boat launch was very shallow for a ways out. Not sure how it is now but something to keep in mind

I agree - but it's well worth it if you use common sense. Nice and slow, trimmed up a bit (or allot for bigger and deeper boats) and have a spotter.

The fishing on the little hen can be amazing. There's a couple shorelines in there it's pike after pike after pike. Mostly small ones but tons and tons of pike on that side.

Largest fish for us have been on the Bigger side.

9 lb Walter and a number of really nice pike in the teens.

We were there as well - it was quite a $#!t show but I have heard the water in all of those connected lakes is up over a foot - so it should be better.

Lots of guys with water half way up the doors last year.

This year it should be OK.

I've personally never been there but my uncle landed a 31 lb pike out of there 6 or 7 years ago
