Definitely a neat idea. Looks really clean when he's done.

Default Very interesting

Good day,
I have looked into the use of a pressure washer and I can't wait to try it.I can't vouch for the time it takes, but I have a crippled hand, so holding the wand will work better for me. And every pelt I have seen done this way looks perfect. It has real merit from what i've seen. I guess it would also depend how fast you are with a fleshing knife.

When you watch all his videos, everything he shows is 100% against everything I have ever been taught. I just feel like this would ruin the hide. The way he skins them makes the beaver not cetrical and the way he stretches on the hoop gives an odd shape imo. I'll never try it! Beam and a knife is all anyone ever needs!

What I wonder is why he didn't simply skin it open instead of cased then lay it (even tack) out flat to begin with and then use pressure washer. Would save the trouble of moving it around on the beam.

That's what I was thinking. I thought it was interesting. Case skinning then opening the belly to board seems like a few extra steps. I stumbled across this video so I'd thought I'd share. But in the winter you'd have to spray then use a zamboni to flesh it.

a buddy and myself were both fleshing bears out. he was using a pressure washer (5hp gas driven) i used a two handled knife. we both worked for a few hours and in the end i was able to flesh twice a much as he did. from what i saw the pressure washer gave a nice clean skin but not worth the fuss of rigging up the pressure washer. Not to mention my buddy was drenched head to toe
