Default Savage Model 99 Re-bore

Hi folks. I have a Savage Model 99 C built in the mid 60's in about 90% condition. It is chambered in 308 Winchester. I am thinking about re-boring it to 358 Winchester. Does anyone know a gunsmith in Sask or Alta that you've used for such a project? If the project becomes cost prohibitive, I may end up selling the rifle and switch gears into something else. Thanks for the input.

Re bore vs. Re barrel is a pretty close cost gap.

Finding smiths willing to re bore will be a tough one too.

Good luck.

Thanks for that, I was kind of wondering the same thing. This may turn out to be the project that wasn't.

Reboring is considerably cheaper than rebarreling your 99 especially when you factor in extractor cuts, installing sights, and bluing.
Talk to Ron Smith.
