Default 20 ga 2 3/4" steel shot available , but not in Alberta

https://www.ableammo.com/catalog/che...379_11622.html

It seems the sporting stores here are holding our feet to the fire when it comes to the 20ga. I have been looking for years for steel shot/ 20ga/2 3/4" shells to no avail. I was convinced it is not made , and as a result had to buy my grandson a new shotgun instead of passing one of my 2 3/4" 20's on to him.
Well I guess it is available , however just not in Canada.

What a business ethic, dry up the ammo , only stock 3" and force the sales of new guns.

With 2 more grand kids starting up I find myself having to buy more guns instead of shells to fit what I have , A wingmaster with IC barrel, and an 1100 with a skeet barrel.

Default Remington Nitro steel 2 3/4

and several others have been available for years (used to get all mine from WSS)
Just checked downstairs and all I have in stock is #4 steel shot in 2 3/4.

Believe many would encourage using a new shotgun because of the choke in older guns with many being full choke which may be dangerous as well as not performing well with steel shot due to "bridging" in full choke guns.

You are right on all counts WW , but some of us have compatible barrels and are unable to find ammo. WSS never had 2 3/4 /20ga/steel anytime I went there in Edmonton.

You have the grail downstairs.

Not very many people look for 2 3/4 20, so it's a small market. And if they do, it's a few times more likely to be for skeet or upland. So lead stuff is preferred.

Just found #6 and 7 1/2 Winchester Xpert at Al Flaherty's.

You say a Wingmaster and an 1100? Alternatively, you might be able to have a smith lengthen the chambers, if there's enough room in the action. As it sits now, you've 2 guns that are not very useable. Though a better option might be to buy new barrels, with a little tighter choke for a bit better range.

Or take up shotshell reloading. Make up whatever you want.

Or find the shot you are after and buy a pallet. You aren't going to be able to find much "oddball" stuff if you only stick to WSS. Won't have to even bother there pretty soon either.

Lets hope it is available in more places. I was at CTC stores all around here and not a chance to find any. Even the new Manning store by Cabellas doesn't have any and doesn't plan to carry 20 ga 2 3/4" steel.
