Default Leasing oxy/acetylene bottles

Looking at getting a cutting torch for the farm. Will probably only use it a couple times a month.

Wondering which way to go, buy the bottles or exchange.

Also, how does leasing the bottles work? is it a monthly cost or just pay at exchange?

I am leaning towards exchange because to get the bottles filled would be a trip to the city and I can exchange locally.

For leasing you are charged a yearly fee per bottle. No monthly fee unless you pick up a extra bottle that’s not leased, about $25 a month. When you first lease you will get full bottles. You have to pay for them being full over and above the lease. Then when you empty them bring them back to the depot and exchange them as needed. No charging for the bottles but charged for the contents.

I looked into this about a year or so ago and found that it would be way cheaper for me to purchase vs lease. If my memory is correct I think it was anything over 18 months and it was cheaper to purchase in my case. Also lots of welding supply shops are starting to offer bottle filling services now too.

Default buy your bottles ...

do not lease.

and then you can shop companies to do your refills. no reoccuring fees, way cheaper in the long run.

If intersted i have a brand new victor setup - cutting torch - hoses and cart plus a large acetlyene bottle that i own.

So all you would need is an oxygen bottle, which you can find on kijiji.

drop me a pm if your interested

I always stay away from any lease agreements. You may only use a couple bottles a year on a farm.

Agree to this. We use this setup. Bought our oxy bottle, if all you need is to fire axe steel and heat material I'd recommend this.

Depends on how fast you're going to empty it I suppose, but when I looked into it a few years ago, the cumulative cost of leasing was less than the required inspection.

I purchased mine at UFA years ago. When your bottle is empty simply exchange for a full one.
