Tanning beaver/coyotes
Anybody have any experience with home tanning? I realize I could take fur to commercial tanners but am wondering how difficult to do with tanning kits, etc. was thinking that with the low price of beavers why not give it a try. Anyone have any experience with this?

Lots of guys swear by the several home tanning products sold on halfords website. I usually brain tan, when I want to go the "easier" route I buy some of these.

I think the price on this jumped 3$ since the last time I was on the site...

Do a brain tanning, 100% natural and by far the best result you can get.

This is ridiculous they want us to support local companies, but when they charge$ 90.56 for 5 bottles, when you can get 5 for $36.00 +tax from US is just a little bit much for me to swallow, and even with shipping it would be way cheaper by a long run,i know I'll get some negative response from this but, this is my opinion only, cheers Peter

I gave brain tanning a shot with two skunks I got this season. They don't seem tanned at all to me. They are very stiff and smell like brain/smoke. I'm guessing I did something wrong in the process, has anyone else had this happen?
Thanks,
Nick

You won't get any Negative from me. We are getting robbed blind in Canada for most things. I got to give a big thanks to Marty though. I checked prices of his snare parts on Snareshop Vs here and I got to say they are pretty close unless I missed something.
I am headed to the inlaws this summer and will be driving the 20 min across the boarder to pick up a pile of stuff this year again. Will save me a pile even after declaring it and paying the taxes.

To put this thread back on track and sorry for the derail I will say I finished a weasel today with the orange bottle from Halfords. My daughter caught a weasel in a trap she set and wanted to keep it. I explained you had to tan the hide or get a taxidermist to mount it. So I figured I would try to tan something for the first time. It worked out awesome and just gave it to her an hr ago and she loves it. It wasn't hard to do either.
