Question where to take furs for auction?

Hi, new to trapping, and would like to know where I can take my coyote pelts for auction?

Also, snared 2 that lost patches of fur behind the neck, thinkin it's from the snare and them not being put down fast enough. Anyone have any insight they are willing to share?

Thanks in advance
Mark

There are 2 depots close to you either Westlock at the ATA building or Halford Hides in Edmonton.

The hair missing behind the front shouder is some sort of a disease or an insect. I thought it was shoulder mites but according to an article that was in the the lastest edition of the ATA magazine coyotes do not get mites.

Ok. Thanks for that. Am I still able to sell them, or is it not worth the time? It's probably around a 8"x8" patch of fur missing

If you put them up than i would go ahead and sell them. I for one would be interested to see what kind of price you get for them.

Mites cause mange; hair loss between the shoulders may be due to shoulder lice.

My opinion would be to not skin a coyote that's missing 64 square inches of fur. Maybe if I wanted practise and was real bored.

If you do put it up I would consider cutting that bad section out in a football shape and sew it up.
