Default Nice cutt

This time I had my water shoes on and my feet were nice and toasty. I did develop a small blister on my heel by the time the day was done. I covered about 5 km on foot that day.https://youtu.be/oYPwmGq-pR4

I got one that looked just like that one yesterday on the Highwood, only about an inch shorter. They are beautiful fish when they get to a certain size. It is too bad most cutts I catch in that river are smaller than a foot or so in length.

I'd say that day the fish averaged 17 maybe 18 inch. The smallest was a 13 inch bow that got shook up pretty good by a bull. The largest of the day was a bulltrout that was 3 or four inches over 32. It hung out of my 32 inch net about 3 or 4 inches. It had to be 15 lbs. Biggest trout I've ever caught.

Yes, its now a common experience on the river. I got a typical little rainbow this day on a small dry fly. It was maybe 8 inches. I was on the deepest pool in a mile of river. Then all I see is this shadow appear underneath my struggling catch. My brand new echo 5wt. bent right into the water as my line went out. All I thought was what would happen to this big guy if he broke my rod! Had him on for almost 10 minutes before he finally pulled the rainbow off my line. I saw him only once close. Had to be 28 to 30 inches and every bit of 10 pounds. Biggest trout I have ever had on my fly rod, caught unintentionally bait fishing. This is one of the reasons the Highwood is my favorite river other than the Bow.
