Default New Remington 870

Well, my wife had never fired a shotgun in her life. 2 weeks ago during a range trip, I persuaded her to shoot my over and under 12ga at some clay targets we salvaged from the long grass at the end of the skeet field. Throwing them "Tom Knapp" style for her, she managed to hit a few. I could see she was interested, so off to the gun shop we went this past Friday. A wonderful selection of 20 ga shotguns were shown to her, and in the end she chose a Remington 870. I cut the stock an inch shorter and this morning we hit the shotgun range with a brick of shells and a box of clays. She had a blast. I think we have found a new hobby.
In talking with a couple gentlemen who were also shootng this morning, it seems the 870 is a very common "first" shotgun. No surprise there. Good to see the 870 is still holding its own.
Now, we just need a choke tube in improved cylinder and a few more practice sessions. I cant find a single thing wrong with that.

My first real owned shotgun was a 870 and it has been my trusted companion for over 25 years and has always performed flawlessly. Good choice for a first scatter gun, in my opinion...my son learned on that gun as well.

If it's a new 870 'Express' (not an 870 'Wingmaster'), it seems that some folks haven't been so lucky recently ...

Glad to hear she got a good one

'Good Hunting' (and shooting) to both of you!
