Default New cell phone advice

Time for a new phone. I'm looking at the I Phone 4, a Blackberry, or a Motorola Charm.
I want it for mostly play first, and work type stuff second.

What's your thoughts on these choices?

The I Phone has a ton of apps that you can play around with on your phone. Lots of arcade games for it too.

I have a blackberry storm and its great. After a little bit of a learning curve I'm not sure how I ever got by without one.

The BBM is one reason I am considering a Blackberry. I like the apps of an I Phone. How are the apps on a Blackberry? Are there lots?

BBM is nice I spose.

As for apps, I downloaded a really good fart machine the other day....

My wife has an Iphone, I have a BB for work. If it's for play, get an Iphone.

Perfect. Now when the dog is outside, you can blame it on the phone.

I sell them all at work. I promise iPhone (any version) has fewer issues and lower return rates than anything else on the market.

PLUS - you can get cool bullet drop compensation apps for iphone and not for anything else!

If play is goal #1 - iphone is the clear choice.

If reliability and ease of use is goal #1 - iphone also clear choice.

If email arriving instantly is critical - Blackberry. If it can be a few minutes before you get an e-mail from when it was sent - Iphone.

I heard the new Iphone is really hard to find. How long of a wait to order one? I will be moving from Bell to Telus on this phone.

I got the Iphone this spring through Telus.
What they neglected to tell me was that it does not work in Saskatchewan or Manitoba (unless you are in Winnipeg)

I just got the new BB torch and it is an excellent phone, Only had it for a couple of days now, but the touch screen is the same as my iphone and it has all the pluses that iphone has and it is BB. If i were you this would be my choice. All phones are going 3G and SK will be up and running completely before the end of October.

I went in to the telus store last night for a closer look at the phones. I have settled on the Iphone4. The deal clincher is the video phone on it.

Now I just need to find one. Does anyone have any experience in ordering one from Telus on line?

The 3G network has been up in Sask for a couple months now. I have an HTC Hero that I really like.

Default Iphone

When I got mine in April it wasn't working in SK or MB when I drove through.
When I flew to Winnipeg in June and July I could only get it to work in certain parts of the city.
I'm glad to hear that it will work in Saskatchewan now.

When I'm home in Calgary (and anywhere I've been in Alberta) it works great.

Thats what you get for going to Winnipeg. (just jokes)

I have a blackberry that I like but from what I've heard you won't be dissappointed with the Iphone.

Sure, PM me and I can get you a iPhone 4 32 GB version for $156.65 on a three year contract.

Hopefully they explained that you have to be hooked up to wifi (not 3G/4G) for video call to work.

From Telus' website:

Quote:
FaceTime

iPhone 4 makes video calling a reality. See your friends while you talk to them and make phone calls like you’ve never seen before. iPhone 4 to iPhone 4 over Wi-Fi.

Which is why IMHO Facetime would not be worth it.
Now if they could do it with 3g/4g, I'd consider it.

But I'll stay with my Nexus One.

Thanks for the offer Tylerb, but the wife managed to hook me up with one today. Kids have been playing on it ever since.

I did not know about the video calls working only on wifi. Should be alright to work around that.

I got sick of waiting around for an I4.
Started reading reviews on smart phones and most pick the HTC Desire as good or better overall than the I4.
They were impossible to find for a bit but finally got one a few weeks ago.
Fair bit cheaper than the I4 and so far am very happy with it......
I keep bugging the young tech geeks at work that I didn't want to be like the rest of the sheep in the flock and buy an I4.

I have a BB Storm and I hate it. Typing on the touch screen is a pain. Cant use it with gloves on which is no fun in -20 when your lying in a snow drift with a dislocated shoulder and you cant get your gloves off to call ski patrol (don't laugh it's a true story!)
If you cradle your touch phone between your ear and shoulder it will cause other functions to operate like the mute button. The touch screens dont like the cold weather either.
As for email delivery.....sometimes I get them right away and sometimes it will take hours and it doesn't matter where they come from. I'm on telus and so is my wife with her BB curve and emails from her are just as delayed as anyone else's.
