I have come to see that some of the members of the board are inspiring photographers. Myself, being an aspiring photographer, thought I'd put a sampling of this year's protfolio, and encourage other to do the same.

So photographers, what has this year produced for you?

I sure don't consider myself an aspiring or inspiring photographer. Just a fisherman with a point & shoot camera. Most of my pics have been posted on here already(in the fishing section of the forum), but here's a few recent shots...

Couple of my favorites:

200 iso, f5.0 at 1/200, using a 200mm zoom and UV filter, manual flash. Click to view it at full size to get the real detail

400 iso, f22, manual flash. I slowed it down to 1/8, but I should've gone much slower. Should have used 100 iso

We just have a cannon point and shoot, and I've posted these before, but here's a few. Not a very good photgrapher by any means.

I'm thinking about starting a new thread, but I'll post it here first.

I had this idea for a couple of months now, but here goes.

I'd like to propose that AO members submit a bunch of photos, of anything to do with Alberta and the Outdoors. That could be hunting, fishing, or just the outdoors. It could apply to the prairies or the high mountain peaks of the rockies.

We could take these pics (with photo credits) and turn it into an Alberta Outdoorsman picture book. If you think about it, it would be a ton of photos from amateurs to professional photographers, all taken within our province.

Think there would be some interest? My wife is a graphic designer and illustrator and could help put together the book. Or maybe it would be something Rob would be interested in?

Just a thought guys... thought it would be worth throwing it out there. Haven't looked into costs etc.

Totally excellent idea ^ !!!

Just look at the photos that have been posted here on this thread already ... I'm guessing that they are just the "tip o' the iceberg" here on the AOF.

I would suggest that you (Albertadiver) take this idea and run with it ... I think it's got lots of potential!

I do a lot of wedding photos and it's been a while since I've taken some nature shots. Here's my work.

No Fair!! The pro's get in here and make all us amateurs look like, well...amateurs.

Gotta have two categories!

On a side note...Jeromeo; I assume the bride/groom's name was McCormick and Deering in that one photo. How did you PS their names onto that truck? That looks authentic.
Tres Cool, btw. Love the DOF on that one.

Well actually it's an old tractor and that's the make and not the bride and groom's last names. Just figured it would be a great shot. Thanks for the compliments. I am far from being a pro. You have some pretty nice shots as well.

By the way for all of those who are brand loyal, these photos were taken with a ....... SONY Alpha series camera That's right, I don't use a Nikon or Canon Don't get me wrong, they make a fine camera but I had a few Minolta lenses lying around and since Sony bought out Minolta, I figured I'd make use of my old lenses.

Hahaha...that's hilarious! About the only tractor brand I know is John Deere..I thought for sure that had been chopped to put their names in place.
It's amazing the quality of even the P&S camera's. I shoot with an older EOS (with L series lenses) but my previous camera was a Minolta Dimage. It was the closest thing to a DSLR than most P&S's. External hotshoe, extremely fast "burst" mode (up to 15 fps!!) But of course the sleep wake up and focus speed just doesn't come close to an SLR. Here's a couple of shots from the old Minolta:

I just need to learn more about the PP process. I started working with RAW files but I've fallen off since. I need to take a PS course.
