Help with a WMU 507 Cow Moose tag ?
* I searched "WMU 507" and "Thunder Lake", but only turned up a whitetail thread from 2008.
A former coworker who is familiar with the area was supposed to accompany me, but he's going thru a divorce & dropped off the face off the earth.
It's a 400+ kms drive one-way to the zone for me. And before I spend the $21 on the I-Hunter Barhead County map, I figured I ask for some guidance here.
If it was within ~250 KMs of home, I wouldn't even be asking. I appreciate any help or advice you can give. I've never spent any time in that area.
Gonna try to solo it I guess, if I get some good leads. But I'm open to having company if you care to join me.
Willing to make hunting or shooting gear donations (to whomever) for your assistance. Preferably a new hunter, or someone less fortunate.
https://albertaregulations.ca/huntingregs/wmu/507.html
. . . Thank you in advance.

Heaven forbid you have to put in some leg work.
After all it’s already sept and your tag isn’t til November
I’m guessing your buddy will reappear before hunting season
It’s a divorce, not the end of the world

The vast majority of the land that actually has any moose on it in that WMU is privately owned. You are going to need either Ihunter or a County map as you are going to need to get permission.

Fair enough, I had a feeling that was going to be the case.
I appreciate your advice, and the fact you're not trolling - unlike someone else here.

It was not identified which draw season he intends to hunt Archery S1-O31or General N1- N30? There are pockets of crown land in this zone but as indicated a lot of the land is privately owned.

Exactly... Thank you, and I'm in the process of trying to drum up some leads.
But to be honest, I am going for rifle season but think I should be asking this question now instead of waiting till the last minute.
I know I've been a bit "abrasive" in the past, and I'm working on not posting with a highball glass in my hand, so I'm just not responding to his idiotic comments.
Thanks for the harsh but realistic comments, regardless. Buying the County map today, gonna start making a plan.
