Default Canada Day

I have lived here in Airdrie for 10 yrs in the same house and since I moved in have always had a Canadian flag flying outside and where ever else I've lived. It makes me laugh that people here in Canada, the only time they feel they should be patriotic is on Canada day. Come on people, be proud to be Canadian 365 days a year not only on Canada day.

Where do you get that Canadians are only patriotic on Canada day?

I'm guessing the flag is flown more on Remembrance Day.

Why is it only Canada day that people rush out to get a flag. Look to the south everyone is flying a flag.

We have our Canadian flag up 365 days a year. We also fly an Oilers flag during hockey season and are currently running the 150 Canadian flag along with our regular Canadian flag. Sometimes the wife flies a Scotland flag.

Like I said, why is it only Canada day that people rush out to buy a flag. Why not fly our flag. In my neighborhood I'm the only one with a flag. Go down to the USA and see how many people have a flag on their home.

Oh I've spent plenty of time in the U.S.A. The house I grew up in was yards from the border. My point is that you don't have to fly a flag to be patriotic.

One thing that really aggravates me is seeing the American flag flown on Canadian soil.

I have flown the Canadian Flag since a politician championed the idea of openly showing pride of country by flying our flag ....and sent a flag to every household. Was it Sheila Copps?

Lots of Canadian flags on display in the snowbird destinations in the US.

Ideally I think I would be patriotic, but I don't feel patriotic towards Canada.
i am proud to be Canadian. The initial bond is similar to being a part of a family, and over time, morphs to loyalty and pride based on merit. Notwithstanding her shortcomings, Canada remains one of the best places to be ...in the galaxy.

i dont know about everyone, but when my kids are playing sports in the USA, we always take mini flags and place them in plain view. Not a massive 12 foot flag, just small ones. But the times that we win a tournement (or not) the flag is always in the team photo! Makes the kids proud. never a bad thing

In the south (Divided States of America) almost everyone flies a flag (whether their patriotic or not), because it's expected. In some areas, if you don't fly a flag, your patriotism can come under question.

I'll take Canada, any day.
