Default If you think AB natural gas "distribution costs" on your bill are high...

Just got my last Fortis BC NG bill for my mother's home near Vancouver:
Cost of gas: $4.51
Basic Charge, Delivery, Storage & Transport, Carbon Tax, Clean Energy Levy, GST: $55.26
NG itself is 7% of the bill (2.2 GJ @ $2.05/GJ).

Yours is only five bucks more than here. I didn't use any gas, my bill is $44.08. Only thing on gas here is the furnace, the pilot lights been shut off for 2 months, didn't use any gas.

If only we could get that gas to our door without thousands of miles of pipelines and compressors and the like. Be much cheaper if we could ignore all those safety regulation designed to prevent explosions. Taxes and fees...well... soon solar will pay all the bills so we can rest easy knowing the panacea is coming. Alta270 said so so I know its true LOL

The Natural Gas Co-ops seem to do a better job of not billing us with lots of extra charges. They are also non-profit so have no greedy shareholders.

True, but the co-ops don't have near the costs that the larger companies have to pay out either.
