Talking A Little Good News

Been sitting around recovering from the first of three impending eye surgeries.
Doc's ain't letting me do a lot, so it's pretty damn boring alright.

Last year I once again applied for a Crossbow Permit in Alberta.
Long story shorter, my left shoulder is basically useless these years. They never have fully figured out the issues with it, but perhaps the MRI scheduled for later this month will help...

Anyway, just the way things work out, I was unable to get over to Alberta until the archery season had passed. Got in on a couple of fine hunts, and did my work with the rifle for a change. Totally forgot about the Permit Application until a day or two ago...

Tried repeatedly to get ahold of someone in the Calgary office that might have some intel as to where I stood (should I re-apply for this year?). Finally did just moments ago, and the nice Gal informed me that I have two more years worth of permits awaiting pick up! And, she had already enclosed another application (3 year) for when the issued ones run out at the end of 2018! Awesome!!

So... a huge new order of arrows being built. Permits soon in hand, and a few ideas of where / what to be looking for.
Now if this damn eye cooperates, it could be a rather fun fall!!

Best news I've had in weeks!!

Cheers,
Nog

Hi Nog,

Just had knee surgery last Friday myself, really sucks when your physical body can't keep up with your brain! Growing Old Is Not For Sissies.

Wishing you success in your upcoming surgeries and for a speedy recovery!

Happy Hunting

Man-O-Man do you ever have that RIGHT!
Between eye issues, shoulder issues, stamina issues, impending knee issues and getting damn near half deaf already, it is a bit of a scary ride!

On the other side of the coin though, it beats the hell out of the alternative!

Cheers!

Sounds like you were rode hard there eh

Better than being put to pasture

Look forward to seeing your pics after the seasons are over.

Glad you are still able to get out. Even if the vision goes a bit further you can use the technique this blind archer uses to shoot targets.

Actually won't even know if I can get out until after the next two go-arounds under the knife...

That said, I will indeed nominate YOU to put the bell on the moose or elk for me, and I'll gladly accept the challenge of shooting the bow blind!!

Cheers,
Nog

Sounds like nothing but good news to me.

I will try to do the same. God bless, God speed.
Make it happen this fall. :-)

The only thing that stands in our way is our foot prints of what we didn't do.
Where we didn't go, and only dreamed and thought of were we may have been.
But didn't do it.

Its a difficult thing to do to put aside all the life stuff and simply take a walk.
But to have the strength and guts to do it is more than most can stomach.

It's not for everyone.

I'd hang the bell just for you if needed. A nice bell tuned to A minor.

And... The Grizz tag came through...

Maybe that's a sign that all is going to work out after all...

Hoping...

Be a spell for that methinks...

Well... another visit to the SawBones a couple days back now.

The "good" news:
The retina has healed up pretty good from the first surgery, and is now largely re-attached as it should be.
Next surgery is scheduled for next Thursday.
Doc still thinks there are "decent odds" of improving the vision from what it currently is.

The Bad:
There is no current vision. Smeared colors across a blurred background.
Following surgery, I will have to be positioned face (nose) down for 20 of 24 hours over the course of a week.
Next surgery date following that "to be discussed" dependent on the outcome of this one.

When I inquired about meds to assist that, he openly inquired if they were for the wife.

Man, that is going to be the week from hell...

Still hopeful...
