Default Wolf pups close up

A coworker and I had to run out to a remote line break valve early this morning. We pulled off the road at about 5:30, got out and we’re prepping to walk into the bush when I noticed these cuties walking in on us.
My understanding is that wolves around here are born in late April to early may, so these are about 3 months old I figure.
What do you think?

This is one of the videos we shot, if interested.

That’s really neat! Without a care in the world. Where did they come from and where are they going? Where are the grown-ups? Really cool experience. Super cute, just like all other young animals. Then they will grow up into pretty effective killers.

Cool stuff. Thanks for sharing.

Very cool, mom and dad are probably out looking for breakfast with 6 hungry mouths to feed, now you kids stay here and behave, and stay off the road

After we walked in to the line break valve we had to work on, the adults started calling the cubs. We ended up between the two groups while they howled back and forth. The cubs seemed to stay put once the calling started, the adults moved towards the cubs. We didn’t see them, but they moved right past us through the bush.

Odd behaviour, only time I saw this was with young animals as these ones being curious or ones that associate people/vehicles with food.

Pretty cool experience. We were working on a remote line dig 5-6 years back and noticed a few wild pups hanging around the road. One morning I went out really early and caught them on the road. They took off, so I went up the road a bit and stopped, opened all the windows and googled wild calls, played it pretty loud, and sure enough they all popped out and started coming over. Closest one got to about 15 yards away.

It is a really neat experience!

My vote goes to curiosity, I don’t believe they ever encountered a truck or people before. This is kind of a remote spot and this road in particular is seldom used even here. The tag on the valve we were looking at indicated last check was 2 months back.
I think the pups are, at most, 3 months old.

You're probably right about age, I whacked one in late October that was about twice that size. They're still very naive at that age, interesting the number of blacks there.

Of course, if you had to go hungry as many times in a year as they do you would want to kill some thing too.

Wow that would be a great thing to witness. And on top of that the parents vocalizing with the pups. These are the experiences that are golden.

Glad everyone seems to enjoy the pics/video, it was a very exciting experience, one that I’m sure I will never experience again.
