Default Are people really this stupid?

I see a lot of stupid people day to day but I am just gobsmacked after reading this article about the Pembina river.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmon...rcmp-1.5213862

I can't imagine even a handful of people actually thinking it flows in a loop....

Total waste of resources flying them out of the canyon....

I'm sure the solution will be to ban river floats where it should be ban idiots.

Its time to remove warning labels and suspend emergency services for certain situations and let things work themselves out.

Hopefully they get a bill for the cost of the air service.

So, a helicopter ride out of the canyon at the end of the day isn't included with your campground fees?

I agree with you 100%! Far too many people have lost the ability to think rationally and have no idea that there are consequences to their actions. Common sense is a thing of the past.

I keep saying that an apocalypse can come soon enough. Just like a forest fire cleans up the deadwood, a correction has to happen.

I see too many Google smart and reality stupid people anymore.

Unhappy Yes they are.

George Carlin pointed this out years ago. I expect it will continue to get worse until society stops rewarding them.

They’ve probably not heard that cliche saying about all you need to know to be a plumber. It applies to water just as it does to ‘crap’.

Or does this ‘circle’ in the Pembina river have magnetic water and an uphill section at one of those magnetic anomalies that also induces cars to coast uphill ?

Someone better hurry up and build a hydro station in the circular part!

People never fail to astound me. A recent conversation I had at work with a guy on Friday afternoon:

Me, "Bill, cylinder pickup in Stettler has been changed to Tuesday and Friday only".
Bill, "Sounds good".

On Saturday I see Bill unloading cylinders from the truck.

Me, "Hey Bill, were did those cylinders come from"?
Bill, "Stettler".
Me, "I though I told you cylinder pick up in Stettler was Tuesday and Friday only"?
Bill, "I thought you just meant I didn't have to go on Sunday."
Me, "Since when does "Tuesday and Friday only" mean go pick cylinders up on Saturday"?
Bill just stares at me, blinking.....

Consequences are a thing of the past in the new world also!
And yes, "your" camping fees will pay for this or adjust to pay for this, not theirs!

I’d like to think that’s is unbelievable but I know that is the furthest from the truth. The thing is, I can’t seem to comprehend how so many make it from day to day!!

I cross the Pembina river on horse often, see lots of tubers. Have been asked a few times if I know where the river goes I point and say that way , some don't have a clue or game plan to be picked up. They must be the one's that take the circle route.

I disagree with that.
The correct answer is, "The river stays. You go."

And yes, far too many people are that stupid these days and not just about rivers....

What's a map ? My Iphone screen doesn't show the end of the river so it must go in a circle, why would the government make a river that doesn't?

At the crossing campground on the battle river it nearly does go around in a circle.
Put in, do a loop around the campground, get out, walk across to the start, repeat.

STUPID GOVERMENT! I knew it was there fault!

I guess we should all get together and go protest that all Alberta rivers should go in circles and never leave the province.

I recall an event a few years ago on the Ram River where a bunch of new Canadians blew up their inflatables on the forestry trunk road and embarked on a brief journey of several hundred yards and then went over Ram Falls. Rocky search and rescue cleaned up the mess I expect. David.

I have to deal/correct/advise/teach almost 200 people on a daily basis. Yes. People are that stupid.... I work in the welding industry. Recently had some issues with a welding machine. A lead hand came to me claiming he thought he knew what was wrong. The ground was connected way too high. Needed to be connected closer to the ground. He literally thought electricity flowed due to gravity..... the 'ground' wasn't close enough to the earth ground

I literally had to just walk away for a few minutes just to not laugh in his face and stay professional. So yes. They exist. And it seems I'm a magnet for these geniuses latey...

There used to be critters that would eat the stupid out of the bush.
