Nice looking bull, and definitely not one I would expect to see in 402.

Agree that if you waited 15 or more years and you want a hunt to remember do the wilderness hunt. I live east central and we got lotsa nice bulls but if you aren't there opening morning and you got your heart set on a true monster your odds go down very quickly. Lots of times scouting days before the season there are moose hunters everywhere keeping an eye on "their" particular bull. There are guys flying too. The true hogs are taken the first couple days. Then it's gonna be a good 45 or 50 incher that you better take or the next guy will and it goes downhill from there. Just walk to the fenceline and shoot that isn't real moose hunting to me.

Thanks
Appreciate the thoughts. Sometimes the search is a big part of the hunt, for me anyhow.

I would not pass on that moose if it were my 100th.
Good job!

Full Curl, I would be taking Lklir up on his offer if I were you. a horse hunt back in the bush away from everyone else and he knows the zone extremely well... That sounds like a hunt of a lifetime for most. LKLIR, good on you for your offer, not many good guys like that anymore.
Good luck wherever you decide to hunt.
Cheers,
SS

Moose
Don't have the points for 402 this season, and would really like to make use of this tag in 2017. I like the sounds of 306, fewer tags but less applicants, better chance at drawing the tag. Access sounds difficult though.
Any ideas? I'm always around for a PM.
Sure appreciate any suggestions.

I would consider 406, grab some horses and spend two weeks searching for your bull. can't imagine a better moose hunt.

Horses
Wish I had horses. I've done some drop camps with horses for sheep hunting, always a great trip. I can back pack a sheep off the mountain, but I'm getting worn down to do a moose!

Bull moose
Just a side note any suggestions for a priority 10 bull moose for my wife. She shot her first moose 10 year ago and wants something bigger than a paddler bull. Hunted 166 last season saw more moose than mature mule bucks. Do you think 166 is a good zone to burn a priority 10 tag on for her? Oh yeah she is a fair weather huntress that doesn't like minus 20 so sometimes my days are limited

Back on track
Back to the original post.
I think I'm decided on 306, as I have about a 50/50 chance this year to draw the tag. I've got some intel on the unit, but can never have enough thats for sure.
Any suggestions sure would be appreciated! Want to put together a hunt that worthy of a 16 year wait.
Thanks to everyone who has PM'd me.

402
Beautiful country. Lots of g bears. Was up there last year and going back again this summer to scout. Moose is a moose for meat. Trophy I agree with some of the other comments. Head North young feller

Young
Young feller, thank you! Been a long time since someone called me that. Lol
Ive hunted Moose in the North most of my life, Bow and rifle. Big bulls are hard to find anywhere I suppose.
Any suggestions where folks have seen moose in 306?
