Default Elk Spots near West of High Prairie

I'm just wondering if anyone knows any farmers who are having problems with elk this year around the Smoky River or Spirit River area. I just moved here from out East and I am trying to harvest my first elk, but everyone around HP says they don't know where they all are this year and that j should be checking west. Any suggestions?

Lack of cold and snow means lack of elk problem so far.

There are pockets of elk scattered North, South and West of High Prairie. Like Lefty said, I doubt if there is any farmer related issues yet. That doesn't seem to start until mid December depending on the weather. Get a land location map from the MD office and look for crown land bordering agricultural land. Start there until you get to know some land owners.

When the snow gets deep in the Spirit River area, go and visit the F&W office there. The officer will take your name and pass it to the landowners who will call you. Until there is considerable snow on the ground, there won't be many farmers reporting problems with elk.
