Time of day
What time of day have you had more success hunting?
All species are acceptable.
I vote mornings, although I prefer the evening hunt.

I agree with you....id take one morning over 2 evenings for hunting if I had to choose, but I like evening hunts better. Not a morning guy, lol.

Evening
While it's nice to get something early and work in daylight, most of my kills were near dusk at close to the end of day.

Tend to get more selective nearing dark especially when it is a large animal that is going to take a lot of work in the dark to get out of the bush.
Overall tend to get the most just after first light.

Every deer I have harvested has been between 11-2. Rarely see much before 10am, at least where I hunt.

All my moose have been taken during a morning hunt. Yet I have had chances to take a bull in the late day but have passed for a couple different reasons.
Deer have been taken throughout the day.

Mid day
Probably 75% of the animals I have taken have been between 10:00 and 2:00.
I still get up early and hunt till last legal light though. You can't shoot anything sitting on the couch.

I think best hunting times are fairly dependant on location. Hunting conditions vary greatly between regions of the province. Hunting on the wide open prairies is much differnt than northern bush country.

There so many variables other than just time of day,
Weather, past, present and future ( in comming storm) or ( right after a signifigant weather change) or before
Industrial disturbance, traffic, fracking, seismic exploration, forest fires , logging past and present,
And moon phases, can change morning activity to late morning or early afternoon activity,,
Hunter activity and dusturbance, road travel, foot traffic, too many yocals bugling their brains out, Atv traffic etc
There is no set time of day that is best to hunt, simply conditional to the hands of the clock,,,

I think it highly depends on how you hunt.
I usually start my day headed into the bush off of a cutblock, the animals are ahead of me. They bed down and I catch up with them from about 10am-1 pm, that is the time of day that most of my animals are shot. During the rut things can take longer, the odd day when I sit and wait - morning and evening deffinatly outproduce mid day. I probably like the mornings best for sitting.

2 sheep, 1 goat, nice mulie, at least 2 cow elk, 2 bull elk all between noon and 3 pm. Don't ask me why but it's been a good time of day for me.
Edit: Still my favourite time to be out is morning though.

I voted evening based on success, but I enjoy the morning hunt better, mainly because it means I have the rest of the day to keep hunting! Last two deer have been taken right around 9am though!!

I prefer to shoot moose or elk first thing in the morning. 2 years ago one of our crew shot a big bull with only 10 minutes of light left. By the time we got it back to camp, skinned and on the meat pole it was 2:00am in country that was infested with grizzlies.

i mostly hunt prairie deer and have had the most luck either catching them at the edge of a field in first light or sneaking up on them when the are bedded down mid morning. I try not to hunt evenings as I don't like tracking in the dark.
That said, my wife took her mulie doe two years back about five minutes after sun down. It walked out broadside at 50 yards so it was an easy shot and dropped right away.
