Wmu 349
Hi;
Got drawn for antlered moose this year early season 349. Will be hunting with archery equipment as well. Have holidays set aside to go for the moose in early Oct. I have a pretty good general knowledge of the zone and am willing to put in the work and am not worried in the slightest about the rifle hunters.
However; unexpectedly, work is shaping up like I could get a few sets of days off prior. I have always noticed that the zone is open for elk, and despite having a pretty good knowledge of the zone, haven't seen much elk sign or to be honest, any elk come out of the zone over the years. Last year i bumped into a whitecourt local, who gave me some info, but after covering some ground, i was quick to figure out the elk werent around.
Wondering if anyone would be wiling to pass along any knowledge as to if their is, or are a couple herds in the zone a guy could go chasing through the first part of the month?
My mind is pointing me to the far northeast end - but to be honest wouldn't know where to start up there... if their are actually elk... as mentioned I'm game to put on the miles!
Any info would be appreciated.
