Default Newell Lake - Fishing tips..?

Hello Folks,

This June, we are spending a week family vacation in Kinbrook Isl Campground and I was hoping to get some serious fishing in... I have not been to Newell and in terms of boat, we are equipped with an inflatable w. 30# thrust trolling motor.

Since Newell is new for us - I am looking for any information on where to go, what fishing setup works, what to fish for etc.

Also, my son is still very young, so his patience wears out if I can't produce at least a bite or a nibble in the first 30 min or so...

Any guidance would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thank you !

A word of caution with Lake Newell......be very careful with the wind cause it can be calm one minute and whitecaps the next.
With the inflatable

Default Lake Newell

Greetings,
This time of year most of the fish will be in the shallows. We fished from shore with chestwaders and we all caught fish.Look for shallow legs of the lake surrounded by weeds and we used the basics #2 len thompson black and white,#2 len thompson red and white, same size perch pelican spoon.Good luck and good fishing.

I've had the most luck bottom bouncing. Use green or yellow beads with orange spinner. Best bait to attach is beef heart. Yup u herd correct, cut into strips to simulate a leech. Caught both walleye and pike using this set up. Have fun don't forget the bug spray.
