Default Wmu 339 not sure about it.

Well let me say it's my first time hunting 339 pretty sure going to be the last. Fresh snow stopped falling pretty much as legal hunting time rolls around. spent all morning looking for fresh moose tracks as its the first time in 10 years I finally get a draw.. up and down muddy ass bush trails only thing I seen were a lots of deer tracks and more wolf tracks then I have seen in my life and a few cougar tracks. Not one moose track crossing any cutline or bush trails. Hit up every trail on the east half of the zone nothing to South. Not looking for anyone's honey hole or anything but where would be a good spot to start looking for a meat bull to fill the freezer not interested in a trophy thank you all for the assistance.

How many days did you hunt?

Just keep trying , sometimes it's just being in the right place and at the right time.

I don't think you'll get an info here, just saying, people tend to judge that you should do the leg leg work and find out for yourself, which I understand.

Good luck, IMHO just keep looking and trying and don't worry about getting one, just enjoy the hunt and the nature. Sometimes when you lease expect it, there it is looking at you.

If it was easy, it wouldn't be called hunting.

I have hunted 339 on the east side. Mostly closer to lodgepole, but also some spots off of elk river road. I have not done well there at all. Always see tons of sign for deer. But rarely see anything other than the odd doe. A buddy of mine hunts out there with a large group of people every September for a week or so. For the last 3-4 years, he comes back telling me that all he saw was predator sign. I'm not sure exactly where they go? I imagine that you will be more successful, the further away from civilization you get. But I can't be certain of that. Good luck with your moose. I hope you find success.

Spent 3 days in 339 a couple weeks back. U Lots of road hunters west of lodgepole, seemed like lots of guys taking the 'scenic' route home from work with their rifle beside them. Didn't see a lot of moose tracks but saw a tonne of wolf tracks.

If you want to hunt hard and not get a moose, elk or mule deer then 339 is the place to go. Populations of those animals have been worn down to a nub for at least a decade. Still quite a few whitetail though.

Default Thank you

Thank you everyone for the assistance. With any luck the weather will turn in time for my next set of days off in 2 weeks, and the moose will be on the move.
