Default Sons 2023 Muley

My son got his mule deer tonight. We have been looking over quite a few bucks (and made several stalks for a closer look at a few which I can proudly say he decided to pass on....I dont think at 14 I would have had the same ability, but he knew what he wanted and stuck to it), and when he saw this one he decided it was the one.

The buck was with a half dozen does and getting pretty feisty with them, never had a clue we were there once we closed in and we just watched them do their thing for a while, which is always fun. Was a long stalk and a foot access only property, so we worked up a bit of a sweat hauling him out....sleds sure slide easier on snow lol. We had been focusing on this draw, so now onto whitetails in the north country this weekend!

That is so awesome!

It's such a rewarding feeling when the kids take up hunting and start to chalk up successes.

Thanks again guys! As lots of you have said, it’s a totally different game when the kids really start getting into it. The last couple years I’ve gotten far more enjoyment out of watching him have success on whatever it is than chasing critters for myself…..there’s really nothing I’d rather be doing than running binos for the kid lol.

Again, thank you and good luck to everyone!

Great buck, but an even greater smile on your son’s face. That’s what it’s all about right there.
