Any 225gr Seirra Speer nosler and imr 4350 should get you close to 2800 fps. I have shot 225 Woodlieghs but that was my mistake, too expensive and hard to get. I like the 225's for the speed and weight combination, surprising ballistics. The 210 ttsx shot poorly out of my rifle but were a touch faster, the 338 Win mag is one of my favorites, Mine is in an crf model 70 super grade. Your xbolt will have some serious recoil as it is lighter than mine, good luck!

It more depends on you, and what you're using it for. My favorite load was a 210g Partition pushed around 2900 with IMR 4350. The classic bullet for the 338 is the 250g weight, little more recoil though. I don't think any of the dies are much better or worse. Find some used ones, get some brass I always liked Winchester. Pick a bullet, the 225g Interlocks were my second favorite, and choose a powder that isn't hard to find, and start loading. If you're interested in buying some used rcbs dies, and some Winchester brass shoot me a pm.

Good luck, most 338's are'nt too fussy. I like a mag primer for cold weather as well.

225 interbonds are my current pick but lots of good bullets out there.

210 partitions
225 partitions (a little tough for deer)

Used 200 BT's for years I guess those have been replaced with the accubonds.

The great thing with the .338 is the wide range of bullet types and weights available. 25 years ago, it was a 210 grain Nosler or a 250 grain offering of your choice and not much more! For me, and what I use the .338 WM for, the 225 grain bullets get the job done!! My picks are the Barnes TSX or MRX, North Fork, and Trophy Bonded (currently not on the shelves in components). Stoke them with a healthy portion of Reloader 19 over a Federal 215 primer and pass them over a chrony, you'll be more than satisfied with the performance.

I have an X-bolt in the .338wm as well and have not had any problem finding loads that are both accurate and suprisingly quick. I liked using all types of bullets available and have played with 250g and 180g bullets. The 180g accubonds were consistently in the 3150fps range and were grouping right around an inch with RL 19 and CCI mag primers. I found a great load with the 250g game kings and the RL19 again and velocities in the 2850 range which is phenomonal. The recoil with the 250g bullets is pretty substanstial tho in the x-bolt. I just bought a box of 250g accubonds that I will try and duplicate my succes with the game kings.
