Default Far from home

My co-worker was in our shop yard today and happens to see......a mountain goat. Location: in between grande prairie and Sexsmith. I and my boss met him at the yard and there was a sure as shooting mountain goat chairing the dog around. We got in touch with fish and Wildlife and were advised as to how to handle the situation. After a couple of hours and some careful maneuvers we got the goat into a covered trailer for F&W to pick him up and get him back to something closer to his home range. I can email some pics and video to someone to post if needed. Quite a neat experience

Reminds me of the Goats in the Pinto Creek Canyon Natural Area.

BC has forest dwelling populations of Goats too.

Maybe he is not all that for from "home"....

Seems strange, but like antelope, they wander on occasion. One was found just west of Cremona.

Default goat

Probably to many wolves and grizz chasing him in mountains and thought better to migrate to farm areas so he would not need to sleep with one eye open.

10-15 years ago there were two goats around Valleyview. A rancher found one tangled in a fence south of town and was able to wrestle it into a stock trailer. The other one ended up in a garage south of town.

Cool, this has happened before in the GP area I have been told. Hopefully he doesnt go the way of Albertas only muskox.....

There is a resident herd up the main big river valleys that are coming out of BC. They must think they are in the mountains there. Its a pretty shallow gene pool I think . Pretty cool site:
