but could be good for the zones that would take you 200 years to draw a tag
Got me worked up a little. I would seriously have a 💩fit if that happened. I'd loose antelope, big horn, wainwright, and 6 priority on bull moose.

I couldnt imagine drawing a goat tag in Alberta after booking vacation for other hunts, paying a packer/etc for a sheep hunt, or doing any other sort of logical planning that happens after draw results come out.

Then, in August you draw a once-in-a-lifetime tag and have about a short notice to go and plan a big hunt somewhere or make sure that you've put all your efforts into filling it.....

They likely do but if their servers and computer system is down it doesn't help much.

Arizona does the same thing as well as a few other states. I can make time for desert sheep though...lol

I know they delay antelope so they can complete their aerial surveys here...pretty hard to get an accurate count any earlirer. Not sure about goats though. I guess they count them occasionally too.

I'm glad that they can at least count to one?

Everyone that got their "explosion" email should send a reply telling them to get their act together and send out results when they are available. Not when they think it is "early" enough.

F&W sent the e-mail from Edmonton......IBM sends the results out of Calgary where the explosion and fire were.

I imagine the infrastructure is fine, just need permanent power restored which may take a while if the main electrical switchgear is fried. I would say all data is intact but there is no power to run everything.

3 floors were affected from the water. So now they have the AC cranking to help dry things out so they can restore power and then service.

Latest on Calgary's Shaw Court fire
10:45 PM
Click here to email Scott C. Bourgeois
7/11/2012

Engineers are working diligently to get essential systems back up-and-running, after a fire at the Shaw Court building in downtown Calgary caused a communications nightmare, Wednesday.

Fire Chief Bruce Burrell is director of Calgary's Emergency Management Agency. He says he's never seen a technological breakdown quite like this before.

"It's quite interesting," Burrell says. "It's amazing the amount of reliance we all place on technology, but it's also quite amazing that when you start talking to people, we're all quite adept at going back."

A generator has been brought in to help determine the extent of the damage.

In the meantime, about 30,000 Shaw customers in Calgary's downtown cannot dial 9-1-1, and the city's 3-1-1 phone service is down.

IBM used space in the building as well, affecting many of their customers including Alberta Health Services, whose systems are top priority.

"We need to get that network up probably as our first priority," Burrell explains. "Right now they're saying it has no impact on patient care, but it will when they start looking at scheduling surgeries for the morning."

There's still no word on what exactly caused the problem that crippled the building. (scb/td/ap)

Announcement from Shaw:

On Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 1:30pm, a flash electrical fire occurred that resulted in a major disruption at one of our key distribution centres. This disruption resulted in:
- interruptions to services in Calgary's downtown core
- interruptions to call centre operations
- interruptions to some corporate websites

The emergency plan has been activated and affected systems will be restored under the direction of the Fire Marshall and the Calgary Fire Department once it is safe to do so. Our priority is to remove water, restore power and then reactivate services.

We realize this has caused an inconvenience and hardship to our customers. Thank you for your support and continued patience. A full restoration plan is now in place to resolve this emergency situation swiftly.

Could you imagine if they already did the draws....but only had to report the numbers. Then with this event the numbers got wiped and they have to redo the draws???......wouldn't mean much for most but some of the sheep guys would really get hosed.....

I am really surprised they do not have a redundant system off site. Especially for the 911 and Alberta Health Services stuff. Google could advise them how its done.

That stuff should be fail safe! I hope a review is done... can one imagine if a real emergency hit?

This is a real emergency. It's not as though they're experiencing an outage in pay per view or something here. This is completely affecting tens of thousands of people including Alberta Health Services.

Q9 and Telus are about to get some big contracts. Short Shaw stock tomorrow.

Ok, since no one has said yet I will, and this is meant to.add a little humour to this situation. I bet it.was.redford who caused it to get rid hunters. If wild rose had won this would have never happened.

Hope all works out. In the grand scheme of things draw results are pretty insignificant.
