Default New varmint rig

New CZ-527 Varmint in .223rem with a 1:9" twist heavy barrel.

With a Vortex Viper 4-16x44 and a Harris bipod.

Finished developing a really decent load using 26.6gr of BLC-2 with Lapua brass and CCI BR4 primers. The 69gr SMK and this combination yeilds 3012fps average with an S.D. of 9.2. Even seating the bullets long (.010" jump), I can easily mag feed. Giving five round capacity.

This rifle likes this set-up as I am getting a half MOA at 100 yards. And the set trigger is phenominal.

I am looking forward to some Richardson's erradiaction and some coyote hunting in the fall.

That is a nice setup. My only concern with CZ’s is how high the scope has to be mounted to clear the bolt.

Well, you can't get it much closer than I have it here. The geometry is almost perfect. Yes, the bolt handle is very close to the scope. But it works wonderfully. And the scope is very close above the barrel.

The newer 527 has a different bolt handle, that allows scopes to be mounted lower.

This is good to know. I’ve always stayed away from CZ Center fires due to the high bolt lift.

Great looking rig. You motivated me to do some reloading for my 223 on this rainy day. Enjoy it!!!
