Considering that there's no trap places in Calgary, the best place to go would be the firearm center out in dewinton. You can book instructors there and give you tips.

The biggest ,mistake that I see people making is that they try to use the bead to aim the shotgun, and they end up following the target way too long. And the more that they concentrate on aiming, the lower their scores get.

Default stopping the swing

Most common error that I see is stopping the swing when the trigger is squeezed

Consistent form will consistently break clays.

Keep your head down. Elbow out.

When you say you used to get 40-50, out of how many is that?

Definitely, but the scores usually only go down when people start trying too hard, and that usually results in them trying to precisely aim the gun.

Not to hijack, but I'm looking for a decent manual thrower?

Default lesson

I have taken 2 lessons from a young lady named Dinean, who teaches out of Silver Willow at Carstairs, and I found her to be very helpful. She teaches Sporting Clays, but the principle is the same. She is 100.00 an hour plus tip, and gives very practical advice. Not hard to look at either!

Overthinking it will take its toll

I used to be on a trap/skeet team and once the annie oaklys started and the other competitions after the main big one my accuracy started going down a bit. Low light did not help but also shooting over 1000 rounds from a 12 gauge in one day takes its toll

For skeet, dont shoot where it is, shoot where its going to be and keep up with a good follow through

yikes, hope that included shells

you can go to trap night at any local club and that would be the best way

Come to the Calgary Firearm Center in Dewinton. There are a lot of good people that can help you... Free to the best of my knowledge. Bring your wife and kids on Wed nights for the ladies and youth leagues. And you can probably pick up some pointers as well.

My usual score in trap is around mid 90's. On a good day it close to 98.... Highest was 99......so close.....I still cry in the shower when I think about it.....anyway if you want we can meet up and I can give you some basic pointers if you want and it'll cost you nothing.

If you've gone from shooting 99% down to 60% then there is something drastically wrong that most competent shooters will readily and easily identify.
For trap, book Dewinton as previously suggested and get an instructor to look over your shoulder for a couple of rounds.
