Yup took a drive out and around, bays are ice covered, but lots of run off from the land, ice is lifting,grey, very unstable and dangerous, lake is wide open so ya if you can launch a boat have at it!

I was tempted to take my kayak up this weekend but the forecast and long drive talked me out of it.

Yup, looks like itll be a short hard water season on Cold Lake this year.

It was open water last year until the 18th Dec.
But your right its going to be a short one unless it gets really cold fast.
May be those lakers will have a holiday this winter, making a better summer.

20 below C this weekend so should be making ice before Xmas. Lets hope the big winds stay away so we can forego the ice ridges

well I personally haven't looked at the lake recently but it was not cold this weekend. had allot of rain Friday morning. plus temps during the day maybe -2at night.
