I have trouble understanding this shooting being associated with the baby. The mother seems to say the reason she shot was to protect her baby. It seems she was the target of the break in and she was acting to protect herself. I am not saying she did anything wrong. I am just saying that it seems weird that she and the news report focus on the baby.

Yes americans like to get family values in there to up the rightousness factor. I dont think she should have waited to find out what he was after either but it would have been a stronger story if they had just played it straight

My finger would have been just twitching on the trigger, one less dirt bag for that community to deal with.

The baby wasn't the reason for the break-in, but I'm sure the mother was thinking what would happen to the baby if she (the mother) was taken/killed/injured.
