Default Canola and white tail

Good morning,
Just wondering what everybody’s thoughts are about white tail and hunting them on canola fields? Thanks for your input

I’ve always noticed that mule deer and standing canola go together like peas and carrots. But whitetail seems hit and miss with canola IMHO. Had a nice buck patterned this bow season that was feeding on standing canola consistently. Soon as it got swathed he disappeared. Same field this past weekend, held a group of does feeding on part of a canola swath that wasn’t picked up, every morning. That’s the first time I’ve ever seen a whitetail eating canola in November. I’ve always had it in my mind that they don’t consider a harvested canola field a good source.

There was a small spill in the field just west of the house. Lots of tracks there, looks like they just stop for a mouthful or two and then move on. Mules, I think. But there certainly isn't the interest like there is when the crops are green and flowering and still standing.
