GPS Truck Locator
I'd like to install a GPS locator on my truck without spending a gazillion dollars. Anyone know if there's anything affordable on the market that would work with an iphone app or something like that?

I have F 150 and Ford app. Shows me where is my truck.I can start, unlock and lock my truck from anywhere in the world. Shows me how much fuel I have. Informs me of any recalls. I have not driven it for 2 weeks so Ford put it to "deep sleep"? to save the battery.

To bad the RCMP aren't sharp enough to do that with a "bait vehicle" or a few 100 they would have caught hundreds of rural/city truck thieves by now..................but yes that would require some effort a bit of forethought and some actual police work.

What about an old iphone wired in to a charger under the dash with ringer and everything non-essential turned off and a $100 sim card from virgin mobile on a pay as you go plan (100 cards last 12 months)? If you need to find it just log in with find your phone. Under 10 bucks a month and you have a emergency phone if needed (and if you leave it accessable but hidden)

Bobalong,
Do Not get me started about what the RCMP could do if they simply wanted to try.
B & E's of rural recreational properties are rampant, and what goes missing first and foremost is the Quads!!!!
Neighbours have bought back their toys twice in two years. Perfect place to start as the thieves are expecting to get paid ransom!.
Thing about a bait quad that results in jail time for all involved is Deterrence. It also usually leads to a bunch of other stolen property which ends up in jail time and Deterrence.
The finishing touch would be a term of sentence of BANISHMENT from the rural community where the crime happened. If the bad guy is even seen in the area, they can then be picked up and charged.
Next time the bad guys are eying up a property they have to think twice if its a bait quad site or not.
Too bad the RCMP have decided not to even try.
They know how easy it would be to make a difference with a few bait vehicles, but have decided its not a high priority.
Instead, the rural property owners live in constant fear that their property will be ripped off with little or no effort spent on stopping it.

My new Ram has this feature as well. My only thought is that any thief with half a marble in the cavity would break off the gps antenna on the roof just in case. I know I would if I was a thief just in case. In a way it would be fun to track my truck with my 12ga in hand and stun the scum. It’s pretty accurate on the google earth image on the app, within 5’ usually.
An aftrmarket one that is well hidden and not easily found might be better as it will give you a bread crumb trail to where they take before they get the thing found and disabled, which would be the case for the OP.
The Ram one will bread crumb trail if you contact them and report it as stolen as well.
Spot has ones for this purpose.

They have become one of the worst disgraces (except anything NDP/Liberal) in Canada..............It they attacked rural crime even half as hard as they do gun control the problem would have been solved before it got so out of control like we are now. I still say punt the RCMP and go provincial police. Living in a rural are I have seen them become completely and total useless........and they don't even care, no pride left at all.
