Default Morel mushrooms

There is a guy claiming that he is picking morels and has a lot for sale in the Calgary area. I would have thought it was late for them. Your thoughts ?He is selling for 15 dollars per pound and says he has lots

Hmmm. I was out picking 2 weeks ago and the morels that were around here, the Edmonton area, were already drying up already because spring was late this year and then it was hot and dry. Down south the season could be different maybe. The Alberta morel season can last until mid June but is typically over towards the end of May. It is only June 8. Not sure what to think.

At 15 bucks a fresh pound they are priced great.

Just too darn dry in my areas close to Edmonton this year. I found a few verpas, but not near what I've found ion other years.

Good luck to anyone still looking, after last weekends rain, there may have been a few out this week.

I talked to a Samsquatch and he said the dried ones are way better with a cold can of Kokanee.

I was out in the bush 100km west of Quesnel,BC couple days ago where the big fire ripped thru last year, morel pickers are out in force, seen signs for 4-5 different buyers set up in the area......buddy told me they are paying $5-$6/lb as the market is getting flooded now?

Are you sure these are Alberta morels?

Typically, right now is prime time for morels in the Calgary area, with high foothills and mountain areas peaking in a week or two.

This year, despite the late spring nature is racing ahead of schedule... Oysters are already coming out of their Aspen shells.

I have family in the Williams Lake area, they have been walking the fire areas and are picking up to 15lbs of morels a day. They too say the commercial pickers are out in force. I have no idea what they are paying though.

Likely legit, could also be morels from BC. PM me the contact info, I would like to get my hands on some. I was a couple weeks early where I was working and only found false morels this spring.
