Default February 7-8, 2018 Snowmegeddon

Will it be as bad as they are predicting? In Calgary this morning the prediction was 40-60 cm over the next 36 hours. Now looks like closer to 30 cm.

They've hyped it up so much we'll be lucky to see a single flake.

We got a strong east wind and snow as we speak. Filled the wood box yesterday and went to the grocery and jar store, bring it on. Good time to start doing the taxes.

Been following updates on this storm for 2 days.
Never saw those amounts predicted for Calgary anywhere.

Well, tomorrow sounds like an ideal day to pick up a rental van with the extremely crappy factory tires and swap over my tools and inventory from the old Seppuku Savana. Outdoors.

Accuweather was consistent in their reporting.

How fitting is the timing of the storm. One year ago we had the big dump down south here, doesnt sound as if we will hit those #s though.....maybe.

I just got back in from blowing snow. Probably a good 8 inches deep or more at my place. It was no match for my Stihl backpack blower. Nice and light but sure is a lot for a short time. Going to be a gong show by the morning. Glad I am only 10 minutes to the office.

I am a little worried. Just inventoried my liqueur stocks and I am down to about a dozen bottles. Hope I can ride this one out.

Once you're out of the liquers you can always bust out the sugar, mint leaves, club soda and rum

I feel for you all in Calgary and area. Was there last Saturday. If that is what 2-3" does to that city, I cant imagine 15+".
Got home to 2 feet here. Friday to Monday. Pretty normal for here.
12" since last night and pounding. West of Radium.
Cheers all.

I have 12l of Blackcurrant Port downstairs ready to bottle for Attila. I am sure he will understand if I need to make some emergency Blackcurrant Port Mojitos topped with some Maple Syrup drizzled snow

Only one accident between Glenmore and Mcknight on the way home tonite,
a couple minutes after midnite, just halfway between Glenmore and the Calf Robe, looks like someone tried passing a reefer truck and didn't make it. There was a bobtailing tractor up ahead tossing quite a cloud behind him, he was doing up towards 80K, and one suv and a Challenger passed him. Only two lanes sort of open northbound, saw one plow out, but there is a lot to do. You can see it icing up in spots. Get interesting if the wind gets up in the AM.

South Calgary...6 inches between 6 pm and 9 pm. Then from 9 pm to 7 am this morning only another 3 inches.

Less snow this event than the last one.

Wish the prairies could get more snow. Less for the city.

So far it's pretty tame in NE Calgary. The problem on Saturday was the visibility. Hopefully the rest of the day doesn't get too much worse.

Here in Kimberley it was +2 and raining this A.M. Now it`s beautifull blue sky. I was up at 2 A.M. waiting to be called in to plow. Maybe tonight.

I have tracked weather network and accuweather and found accu more accurate in the past.

Really they have very similar info.
