I own a TRV as well. It travels on a trailer usually, however a couple times a year it goes in the truck (2009 F250, 6'6" box) with the boat trailer behind.
It wont fit with the tailgate up, so I strap the tail gate up as much as I can to hold it place.
My new Alterra fits in with the gate up. How do you like the new TRV btw?
we will be upgrading the wife's '13 TRV next year. She wants another TRV.

Be careful with strapping tail gate up. On some trucks dodge ram it allows the tail gate to be removed, may end up with tail gate sitting on road.

Do you have a backup camera? I have yet to haul the quad in my 2016 Ford short box, but am more worried about a rock hitting the camera by the tailgate handle than pitting my tailgate.

Anyone experience this?

Should of bought a 6.5 box I guess. Those 5.5’ Boxes on trucks makes no sense to me but for looks. Sorry for the sarcasm.

Best bet would be to buy a deck for your truck . This way machine is a live and you still have the truck box space below for equity and supplies

My arctic cat 500 won't fit in my 6.5 ft box, about 3" to 4 " too long to close the tail gate. How high would I have to make the riser so I could gain those 3 to 4 inches and close the tail gate ?

Probably not the smartest way to haul a Quad but I've had no problems with a Suzuki Eiger 400 in the back of my Honda Ridgeline.
It just fits sitting on the end gate & my backup camera or tailgate haven't taken a rock yet...
a little extra precaution you could do is put a couple pieces of duct tape over your camera housing.
