Nashville
Hey guys, gals.
Has anyone been to Nashville?
We are not big country fans but it's on the wife's bucket list. The downtown looks really cool and we would like to stay there. We don't need to go cheap.
So does anyone have any recommendations as for nice hotels and things to see.
Thanks Conan

I was in Nashville about 15 years ago, so I'd be no help in suggesting where to say. I just wanted to say that you don't have to be a country music fan to enjoy your time there. It's an awesome city with a laid back attitude / vibe. We stayed near the downtown area, and there are plenty of good restaurants, historic sites, and interesting things to see and do.

Don't have any advice.. as it's been a few years. But it is an amazing city! Eat the food, drink the beer, and you'll come around to the country thing haha.
Get tickets to the Grand Ole Opry, country fan or not, it's an experience!

Cold and wet during winter months, take warm clothing, and good walking shoes. Excellent bus service with step on/off tour loops with cheap 3 day pass. Bar hop the honkeytonks at night. Take a handful of bills as performers make their living from tips. Street performers abound. Opry is away from the city core, and unless there is a specific performance, it’s just a big convention center. The few clubs close to it though have some of the best performers going through on an open mike basis. Some crappy parts of town, but we never had an ‘issues’.

Nashville
Nashville is a great city to visit. My wife goes every 2 years for business, so I tag along for fun.
Southern hospitality is great, (they think our accent is funny, go figure)
Great food everywhere.
Cheap beer.
Broadway bars all have live music, all day, with people trying to get discovered.
Johnny Cash Museum.
Country Music Hall of Fame
Go watch a Preds game. Hockey games are an event to see and experience. Far better than watching the Oilers.
Rent a car and get out into the country, interesting landscape.
Jack Daniels Distillery is free.
I was never a country music fan but am now.
Weather is cool in February/ March
Going back in April.

X2 and if your there in the summer/fall they have a AAA ball team, NFL and Vanderbilt University sports.
There’s also an outfit out of Ontario that puts on geezer hockey tourneys there.
We switched from going to Vegas and now go to Nashville, so that’s saying something.

Like most Southern cities a great place to visit. There is no limit of things to do, just depends on what tickles your fancy. From Broadway shows to girlie bars, to museums, parks, great food, night life, shows, golf and some pretty great fishing and hunting nearby. Search for things to do in Nashville and pick what appeals to you from the 1000+ things that show up.
the Inn at Fontennel is great. So is the Hilton and the Union Station.

You have to try some Nashville Hot Chicken for sure. Hattie B's is the main one - go for an early lunch to avoid long lines.
Grand Ole Opry was super cool even without a big name - Johnny Cash museum is a must and same with the Country Music Hall of fame - lots of cool stuff there.
Depending on what you like to wet your whistle on there are a couple of good Whiskey tours to go on as well, or go for a tour of Jack Danielle's on its own.
Those American Picker guys have a store front in Nashville as well if you or the wife are into that.
The Honky Tonks have live music from 10am to late - pretty cool with free music and cheap drinks. Tootsie's is a pretty cool spot. Share a table with some strangers.
As mentioned southern hospitality is the best!

You MUST go to Tootsie's Orchid Lounge. It's right on the strip. Bar isn't 20 feet wide but has one stage in the front and another upstairs in the back. Historic place. Everyone has played there. Place is packed on a weeknight, standing room only. I stood on the stairs with a beer and watched the lead singer dance and play on the bar top. Was great.
