Default Drumheller Camping

I am looking for a area to random camp near Drumheller this summer in my trailer. I have heard of people staying at Horsethief Canyon in a parking lot type of an area. Is there a spot north of Drum that is a old boat launch that is uses for camping as well? Does anyone know of spots close to the river or tucked in the badlands? I appreciate any input. If you do not want to post camping spots in the public forum you can PM me.

Thanks,

Shaun

Drum has a Walmart.
Don't they allow parking lot camping?

I can't say for sure, but most of the area is private land so random camping would be trespassing without permission. There is a little campground west of Morin on Hwy 27. Right on the reddeer river. Self registration, I believe.

Thanks for the input, thought I saw pictures somewhere of a May Long weekend trip of people camping in the Badlands. Sounding like all the land out there is private or lease land.

Tollman bridge is not that far away, and its all "badlandy" down there.
I think the farm down there rents out camping spots too, if I'm not mistaken.

5 years ago we camped along the river beside a bridge between drumheller and dinosaur park to the southeast. Just can't remember which bridge. The worst part was the mosquitoes were thick along the river. I don't believe we had to pay anything and there were 2 other groups camping there too. A few snakes along the river valley too so be careful.

The good days of finding good places to camp by simply pulling of the road is not the same as it was just 8 years ago. I am an old school guy who as (Danial Boone) would say "likes elbow room".

Looking at google earth leads me to think this may be the spot we camped. I wasn't driving so I never paid attention to the drive as much.
