I was told by a friend how to mount the two piece base for a leupold scope, but it doesnt feel right... no real instructions. Long piece on the front or back?

I attached a picture. Is this set properly??

Do you have a straight edge to lay across the bases, or across the inside of the rings?

It is all leveled, I guess I was wondering if the front (long base) should he reversed or switched.

If the top surface of both bases are sitting at the same height when installed, and the scope can be mounted with the correct eye relief for you, all is good.

The front base is reversible for different length of scopes eg. on a Vanguard short action my 6-18 is mounted with the ring forward for better support
