Default Goose weather

Scouted all of last week scouting a field by tofield and saw thousands of birds in the same field every day coming in, went for a full day hunt Friday with all the snow we didint see more than 15 geese, anyone else have a similar experience on friday with the weather or just the field we were in.

We were out last weekend and had a good duck shoot. Field to the north of us had hundreds of geese all week. Went out on Saturday and saw nothing. Few geese a bit west. Only stayed out a few hours then called it a day.

We went out Saturday am--snowing like crazy, but was close to town pond, so did ok.

Plus if dekes accumulate snow, that doesn't help--I chuck a leaf blower in, works great

They do seem to come, but not till later.

Everybody says geese fly like crazy in bad weather--I sure dont see it though.

I think they fly to closest field and hunker down for the day

I scouted Thursday, Friday and Saturday , and the geese fed so irregularly that we didn't hunt last weekend. Some days they fed all day in the snow, and then they never showed at all the next day. Some mornings, they showed up in one field, and when I came back 15 minutes later, they had moved to another field a mile away. I like to see them at least a morning and evening in one field, before committing to a hunt.

had a field of snows that must have covered a half section on friday. we hunted it saturday and although we did ok on dark geese the snows never showed up. we looked around and it appears they saw the weather coming and migrated out friday night. i always hear talk about foul weather being awesome bird hunting and so far all i have gotten is cold and wet.

Went out Friday snowed all day, big flocks must have stayed on the lake. Got a couple straggler geese and a few ducks..............and it was chilly.

Partner shot a moose on Fri, so, he didn't want to go out this weekend. I didn't feel like fighting the mud I know is in that area. Been there , done that. I can wait til next weekend. Just hope not too many birds decided to vacate the country.

Any luck this weekend? My friend scouting down south says not much moving. Up by Edmonton, things are fairly quiet as well. Hear and see smaller groups overhead but not much.

We had a great weekend just south of Edmonton. A lot more birds coming in, and hopefully more crops coming off this week, and my two main fields had about 600 and a 1000---pea field--more than I could count. Clearing out all those damn coyotes has finally started to pay off.

TONS out today, sure going to be a long week waiting for the weekend.

I think the migration is all messed up this year. I hear a lot of birds just haven't made their way south yet. usually pretty quiet by Halloween---would love it if they kept going through November. This time last year, way more birds.

Have barely seen anything around Olds. Just local birds. I'm heading up to Camrose this weekend because there have been thousands around there all week.Sure would be nice if they would make their way a little closer to me though.

Oddly enough, although I have found some great fields, the numbers seemed down overall, the last couple of days. Then again, tomorrow, new geese may have moved in.

Never know how weather and water and food sources and even the winds, will affect or deflect the flyway zone, either. The last few yrs with it wet and not getting crops off north of Edm, they seemed to arrive here earlier, last year and this year, they got most of it off, reasonable weather, birds are taking their time.

We were east of Edmonton on Saturday - it was windy and cold. Tried snowing a bit too... Have seen tons of birds flying super high, way higher than usual. We were positioned between the feeding field and 5he water, so even when the birds were coming in to land on a water they were com8ng super high! And then just dropped down. Managed to get a dozen.

And once again, we will be hunting in the snow this morning. It isn't going to be pleasant in the layouts, but a friend is down to hunt, so we will hunt geese this morning, and pheasant in the afternoon.

Plenty of geese and they liked our setup, despite the snow. Due to a miscount, we starting packing up, thinking we had pour limits.

I laughed last time we were out, on the Sunday, partner miscounted on specks, we were still good for one more. We would have had a tough grind getting it after discovering that, think he called me off a single, not 100% sure if it was the Sunday or the Sat though, think it was the Sunday. Just hoping there is still open water for ducks next week, when we get out again.

Field ducks? Imagine everything will be frozen over by then, but sure wouldn't mind hitting them into November. At least the cold will firm the swamps up
