Great idea. For $2800 they are a steal. I would definitely put a nightforce scope on it too. Way too hard to kill deer and yotes with less than $6000 in weaponry.
Jokes aside, for the price of the finicky xcr you might as well buy a high end rifle for both situations individually.

I had a 243 Xbolt Micro Midas for a couple years. Still shaking my head for selling it. That gun dropped WT, MD, and a few dogs in its time. And was a dream to carry. Did I say I'm still shaking my head for selling it? Nothing finer than 55gr NBT for the dogs and 95 gr NBT for the deer. I'm sure I'll be buying another 243 now that this convo has popped up again. Ugh.

243 win or 6mm Rem does the dual purpose rifle quite well. I've used one for several years and have many one shot kills on WT with a good bullet and accurate rifle. My buddy's fiancé took her cow moose with a nice little youth tikka ( small frame girl) in 243 win this fall. I loaded her up with some 100 gr Nos Partitions/H4350 combo and she put down the cow with 2 well placed shots. First lung shot had the cow dead on her feet but she reloaded and smacked her again. Both shots thru and thru at approx 80 yrds . They work those that say they don't haven't used them much, or used them once and made lousy shots .

I'm with you on this one, bought my wife a 25-06 and I ended up shooting it more than her, ive shot all kinds of coyotes with it as well as numerous deer. It is cheap to reload and a great little gun

Deer/Coyote caliber
.243 is a great choice, but I love the 25/06! I load 100 gr Barnes XBullets & 120gr Nosler Partion. Both shoot 3/8"-1/2" groups and drop the deer in their tracks at any range.Speed kills. On that note the .75gr HP Hornady Varmint bullets are super accurate & explosive on Coyotes with not one exit on hundreds of coyotes at all ranges. Nosler .85 gr Varmint bullets are my second choice with great results both on Coyotes & groupings. My 25/06 rifles shoot both low velocity loads and max loads with near same size groupings with max loads usually the most accurate. They outshoot my 22-250 Varmint rifle built for Coyotes,so I use my 25/06 rifles more than the 22-250. Either way you go (.243-25/06) they are your best choice IMOP.

you can 243, like every one said...
OR if you want something with a little more character I would consider the .257 Roberts.

You wouldn't go wrong with a .243 but if your going down that road try and find a 6mm. I've sold all of mine now but when I played that game I had multiple 6mm's and a pair of .243's and always got better velocity from the 6mm. With a 65 grain Vmax they're very hard on fur but awesome on gophers and great for killing coyotes. I had a fur friendly load but I'm not going to mention it here, to many people will get their panties twisted up over it.
IMO the 25-06 does nothing the .270 doesn't do better so to me it's a useless cartridge. If you wanted to buy something that big get a .270
